QuikScripts
is a word expansion tool designed to help production typists and transcriptionists
increase their productivity (and earnings) by saving keystrokes.
QuikScripts allows you to create abbreviations
for the words and phrases that you use most often. In conjunction with
its auxiliary program, SuperClip,
QuikScripts can retain font and format information and even embedded graphics
that you can recall by typing in your chosen abbreviation.
QuikScripts also keeps track of which words
you use most and suggests abbreviations for you to use. If you don't like
an abbreviation that QuikScripts creates for you, you can change it to
whatever you want. You can also ignore it, in which case QuikScripts will
automatically delete it.
Word Endings
allow you to create words with suffixes you define and use endings to
create different forms of the same word. For instance, if you abbreviate
the word "enjoy" with the letters "enj" then you can type "enjA" to get
"enjoyable" or "enjM" to get "enjoyment." QuikScripts also gives you Smart
Endings for the endings "s", "ing", and "d".
Smart Endings
allow QuikScripts to follow some basic rules of English so that it can
intelligently add endings to many words. For instance, if you type "writeG",
QuikScripts is smart enough to know to drop the "e" and expand this to
"writing".
Smart Endings are the Word Endings "S"
for "es", "D" for "ed", and "G" for "ing" that require special handling.
When you use one of these Smart Endings in your document, QuikScripts
will follow some simple English rules to add the proper ending.
For instance, if you type "upsetG", QuikScripts will know to double
the "t" and expand the Short Form to "upsetting".
In the English language, there are exceptions to every rule. If
you abbreviate a word that is one of those exceptions, QuikScripts
allows you to enter the correct spelling. This corrected spelling
will be stored as part of your Word List. For instance, if you abbreviate
"child" with "ch", typing "chS" will usually cause QuikScripts to
expand that to "childs". Using the Smart Endings option from the
Edit menu, you can tell QuikScripts to expand "chS" to "children."
